Tobacco Info welcomes new team

Some important changes have transpired in the Tobacco Info team over the last few months.

In November 2011, we bid farewell to Joe Strizzi, Tobacco Info’s founding journalist. Joe accepted a media position with the Montreal Impact soccer team. We thank him heartily for his remarkable work pioneering our first eight issues. He has been replaced by Geoffrey Lansdell, who began working as our English journalist in January. Geoffrey hails from British Colombia and has university degrees in English literature and journalism. He has published two books and over one hundred articles as a freelance writer.

We also welcome a new Editor-in-Chief to both versions of our publication. Mel Lefebvre has a background in environmental science, a graduate degree in journalism, and five years of journalistic experience, including editing and writing for the Montreal Gazette. She will be coordinating, editing, and laying out Tobacco Info and Info-tabac.

In February, Anick Perreault-Labelle replaced Pierre Croteau as our French journalist for Info-tabac. Anick is a successful freelance journalist and worked for us while Pierre was on paternity leave in the spring of 2011. We are deeply thankful for Pierre’s dedicated and excellent work over the past four years.

Our new team will continue its coverage of tobacco control in 2012 by embracing social media platforms and working towards an improved website.

- Denis Côté, coordinator of Tobacco Info and Info-tabac
